Starting a Conversation via Topics
Would you like to contact your child’s teacher? You can easily do this using Topics, the built-in chat feature in the Kwieb app. Topics lets you exchange short, focused messages on a specific subject.
Tip: Topic conversations are encrypted and only visible to the participants involved. The teacher manages the conversation and may choose to add others, such as a co-teacher or the school principal. As a parent, you’ll always see exactly who has access to the Topic.
How to Start a Topic Conversation
Tap the + button in the bottom menu.
Select "Start Topic".
Choose who you want to start the Topic with (e.g., your child's teacher).
If prompted, select the reason for the conversation.
Enter a subject.
Type your message.
Tap Send to begin the conversation.
Note: Your child’s school may have chosen not to use the Topics feature. If that’s the case, the option won’t be available in your app.
Choose a School Team Member
After selecting “Start Topic,” choose a teacher or school team member from the list to start your conversation.
Select a reason (if applicable)
Some schools require you to select a reason when starting a Topic. Choose from options such as:
Requesting leave for your child
Giving a compliment
Asking a homework question
Enter subject and message
Enter both a subject and your message.
You can write up to 1,000 characters in your message.
An attachment can be added after creating a Topic
Tip: Be clear and concise for quicker responses.
Send the message
Once your message is ready, tap Send. The teacher will receive a notification (via push and/or email) about the new Topic.
Tip: Want to receive notifications for new Topic messages? Set your preferences under Settings > Notifications in the app.
