Kwieb, an introduction for parents

Downloading Kwieb

First of all, it’s important that you download the Kwieb app on your mobile phone. Not sure how to do that? No worries! You’ll find clear instructions here. The app also takes up very little space on your device.

Tour of the Kwieb Parent App

The timeline

When you open the Kwieb app, you’ll land directly on the timeline. Here, you’ll see at a glance all recent messages, photos, activities, and notifications that are relevant to you. The timeline is tailored to your family situation, so you only see information about your own child(ren). New updates automatically appear at the top, so you're always up to date with what’s happening at school.

Above each item, you’ll see a child indicator: a round avatar with your child’s profile picture or monster image. This way, you can instantly see who the message is for. Have multiple children at school? Then you can use the child filter in the top right of the app to temporarily view only messages about one specific child. This makes the timeline extra clear!

Messages and Comments

Teachers can send messages to parents/guardians via Kwieb. These messages can be about your child, their class, or even the entire school. Messages can include photos, videos, and files. You can respond to a message or give it a like. This makes communication between school and parents fast and easy.

Topics (Chat Feature)

With the Topics chat feature, you can easily communicate with the school. A Topic can be started by the school or by you as a parent. You choose at least one school staff member to start a conversation with. It’s not possible to chat directly with other parents. All messages stay within a safe and organized conversation. You’ll receive a notification when a new message is posted in a Topic.

Secure Photo Albums

Photos from the classroom or school are shared within a secure, protected environment in Kwieb. Only parents for whom the photos are intended can view them. This can be set per student, class, or for all parents at the school.

More info here.

Calendar and Activities (including sign-ups)

In the app, you’ll find a clear calendar with all activities relevant to your child(ren). You’ll get a notification when a new activity is added or when there’s a change. If participation is required, you can sign up directly through the app. Activities can also be easily added to your own calendar.

Parent-Teacher Meetings

The school can open sign-up slots for parent-teacher meetings through Kwieb. You’ll receive an invitation in the app. During the sign-up period set by the school, you can choose an available time slot yourself. As long as the period is still open, you can also change your chosen time.

More details here.

Reporting Absences

Is your child sick, has a doctor’s appointment, or are you going on vacation? You can easily report an absence via Kwieb for today or a future date. This saves time and keeps the teacher informed.

Notification Settings

You can customize which notifications you want to receive. For example, for new messages, photo albums, activities, or announcements from the school. This way, you only get the notifications that matter to you. These settings can be found in the app under Your profile > Settings > Notifications. You can choose to be notified by push notification, email, or not at all.

Privacy Settings

You’re in control of what you share. Per child, you can set whether a profile picture is visible, whether your contact details are visible to other parents, and what is shared with the school. These privacy preferences can be set under Your profile > Settings > Privacy. This way, you always stay in charge of your own and your child’s information.

(Emergency) Notifications

Sometimes it’s important that you receive a notification from the school right away—such as if the children are sent home early or there’s a change in the schedule. The school can send a notification via Kwieb that will appear directly on your phone.
